Questions and answers
This page is a draft. It is the published FAQ for the consultation: Secretariat answers to Question comments, signed, dated, and linked to the circular they explain. The circular remains authoritative. This page does not change the guidance.
No questions have been answered here yet. The comment form already offers a Question type; none have been filed so far. When one arrives that other readers will also need, the answer is added here.
How to ask
Section titled “How to ask”- Open the circular the question is about.
- Select the passage it concerns — a question with no passage is harder to answer, and it will not appear beside that paragraph in triage.
- Choose comment type Question and write the question. How to comment is the full procedure.
If the question is really a correction, an omission, or an objection, use that type instead. Those change the text; a question does not, until the answer shows that the text itself is what was wrong.
You can also email info@oceanaccounts.org. Say which circular and, if you have it, the section and paragraph.
How an answer will look
Section titled “How an answer will look”Each published answer will carry:
- the question, as a heading
- the circular and passage it was asked against
- the Secretariat’s answer, dated
- a line that the cited circular is the authority, not this page
Answers can be corrected here without waiting for a circular revision. If the answer shows the circular is wrong, that is a comment to apply in the redraft, and the FAQ will say so.
